GL Communications Highlights Air Traffic Expertise at Airspace Asia Pacific

GL Communications Inc. participated in Airspace Asia Pacific, held December 9–11, 2025, in Hong Kong, China, where the team showcased its advanced Air Traffic Management (ATM) test and monitoring solutions for next-generation aviation communications.

Air Traffic Management

At Stand #B18, GL engaged with Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), equipment manufacturers, and system integrators, highlighting solutions designed to validate VoIP-based air-to-ground and ground-to-ground communications in compliance with EUROCAE ED-137 and ED-138 standards.

GL demonstrated a comprehensive portfolio of test tools supporting compliance, interoperability, performance, and service-quality validation across IP-based air traffic networks.

  • ED-137 Radio, Telephone, and Recorder Emulators
    Enables functional testing, interoperability validation, load testing, and system verification for ATM environments
  • ED-138 Network Performance Monitoring Tools
    Provides real-time and historical analysis of voice quality, latency, jitter, packet loss, and packet integrity in live ATM networks

These solutions support testing across Controller Working Positions (CWPs), Ground Radio Stations (GRSs), Voice Communication Systems (VCS), gateways, and recorders.

Advanced ED-137 and ED-138 Capabilities

GL’s ATM test portfolio supports signaling emulation, traffic generation, load testing, and service-quality monitoring for modern IP-based air traffic environments. All solutions are ED-137C (Change 1 & 2) compliant, IPv6-ready, and designed to evolve alongside industry standards.

For ED-138 monitoring, GL provides detailed metrics including MOS, latency, jitter, packet loss, along with PESQ and POLQA scoring for accurate and objective voice-quality assessment.

GL’s Message Automation & Protocol Simulation (MAPS™) framework enables scalable ED-137 interface emulation across Analog, TDM, and VoIP environments:

All emulators support ED-137 B & C, IPv6 addressing, and are validated using the EUROCAE VOTER tool.

Monitoring, Timing and End-to-End Performance

GL also highlighted PacketScan™ and NetSurveyorWeb™ solutions, providing real-time and historical visibility into ATM networks through centralized dashboards, alarms, and analytics.

For timing-critical validation, GL demonstrated end-to-end delay and voice-quality measurements, including precise analysis of PTT, Squelch, Mute/Unmute, and transmitter switching across analog, TDM, and IP systems.
