Voice over IP

Overview

IP and Voice over IP (VoIP) technology has revolutionized the IT and Telecom industries offering significant benefits to both, to name just a few: convergence of voice, video, and data networks, cost advantages in  implementation and operation, simplified network management, and opportunities for wide array of next generation network applications . Of course conventional services of voice, video, and data must retain or exceed the quality of legacy networks. GL Communications Inc offers IP and VoIP test suites that addresses wide ranging issues to ensure the performance of IP and VoIP technology.

GL’s IP Test Suite consists of IP, VoIP, Wireless, LAN and WAN Emulation and Analysis tools that are briefly discussed below:

RTP Traffic Generator  - GL’s RTP Core allows creating, managing and deleting RTP sessions. RTP Core is a standalone application that acts as an interface between RTP dll and the application.

High Volume Mobile Data Traffic Generation

High Volume Mobile Data Traffic Generation  - GTP Traffic Simulation modules within MAPS™ supports user-plane traffic simulation in LTE, UMTS, and GPRS networks. GTP, or GPRS Tunnelling Protocol are the methods for sending IP traffic in Wireless Networks such as GPRS, UMTS, and LTE.

Testing ATAs & Gateways

Testing ATAs & Gateways - GL provides several tools to thoroughly test VoIP ATAs: PacketScan™, RTP Toolbox™ are to name a few. The Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) permits consumers to easily utilize the broadband services for VoIP with a conventional landline.

Echo Canceller Compliance Testing

Echo Canceller Compliance Testing  - GL has developed powerful tools to characterize echo, noise, and speech characteristics of voice connections. These tools are applicable whether the underlying network technology is PSTN, VoIP, ATM, Wireless, or Satellite.

VoIP ATA’s Testing

VoIP ATA’s Testing  - The VoIP phones and ATA's must be free of noise and other hindrances that may cause a degraded voice quality when using this equipment. GL's VQuad™ w/ FXO Analog option and/or VoIP option, along with Voice Quality Testing (VQT), provides the complete automated network testing solution including four analog 2-wire interfaces (RJ-11), up to eight SIP User Agents and the voice quality measurement and analysis tools.

IP SoftPhone Testing

IP SoftPhone Testing  - GL's Voice Quality Testing (VQT), accessed through an easy to use GUI interface, along with the many supported platforms for transporting voice, provides the voice quality measurement and analysis tools for all types of networks carrying voice traffic.

MAPS™ APS

MAPS™ APS is the high capacity Analog 2-wire Bulk Call Generator used to test a Central Office (CO), PBX, ATAs, Gateway or other telecommunications equipment, which provide local loop interfaces. It includes a compact system comprising of MAPS™ APS, Analog Interfaces, Patch Panels and other optional modules (Fax Emulation and VQT Analysis) in a rackmount system. MAPS™ APS system supports up to 96 independent FXO ports or FXS ports per 1U MAPS™ APS/ALS Server and APSCB-48. More can be achieved by simply scaling the system with a 4U MAPS™ APS Server sporting 2 Octal T1 E1 Cards which can then support up to 384 analog ports.

LAN and WAN Emulators

Conducting tests on real WAN links is expensive or simply not feasible in most cases. GL’s WAN Emulators help user to test the performance of such WAN network-dependent applications by emulating the WAN conditions in a local setup easily and cost effectively. GL’s WAN Emulator products are briefly explained below:

LAN and WAN Emulators

GL offers simple-to-use IP Wide Area Network (WAN) link simulator in 2 variants:

  • IPLinkSim™ 1 Gbps - emulate a bidirectional IP WAN link with varying capacities from 10 Mbps to 1 Gbps
  • IPLinkSim™ 10 Gbps & 1 Gbps - simulate a single bi-directional link between two active ports on both 1 Gbps Electrical/Optical ports and 10 Gbps Optical only ports

IPLinkSim™ is an optional application with portable hardware  based PacketExpert™- Ethernet / IP Tester. IPLinkSim™ simulates IP WAN links. WAN Link Emulation is provided essentially by bandwidth control within IPLinkSim™, which mimics slower WAN links like RS232/DSL/Modem/T1/E1/T3/E3 etc.

IPNetSim™

IPNetSim™ (1G and 10G)  - IPNetSim™ emulates an IP network with access to 10 Gbps full duplex link or a 10/100/1000 Mbps full duplex link. For each direction, incoming traffic can be identified into separate user defined streams (up to 16 streams for 1 Gbps pipe and up to 4 streams for 10 Gbps pipe). These user defined streams can be modified to simulate network impairments like bandwidth, latency, packet loss, packet reordering, packet duplication and logic error insertion.
