Overview
Voice Quality Testing for wireless networks is an increasingly important concern throughout the industry.
GL's Wireless VQT solution provides all the necessary equipment and functionality in order to fully manage voice quality
testing on wireless networks. Adding to its existing wireless test solution, GL introduces Wireless VQT Drive-Testing, which provides
the necessary portable equipment and functionality for a true mobile test. The GL Drive-Test solution includes the necessary functionality to support call control
for most mobile phone manufactures/models, the capability for sending/recording voice over the mobile phone, the ability to analyze the voice and provide VQT
measurement results along with VQT analysis results. , A GPS option permits time synchronization between two geographically separated systems as well as
location information for drive testing. The VQT MOS scores as well as the Call Control information can also be plotted using common GPS mapping software.
GL provides all these necessary capabilities in a portable, easy to use package. Hardware associated with the Drive-Testing
solution includes the GL’s Dual UTA for each mobile phone, and the GPS Receiver for plotting co-ordinates during the drive testing, just plug into the cigarette
lighter (for power) and start the test. With an added wireless network connection, the GL Wireless VQT solution, including all functionality,
can be remotely controlled and all results transmitted to remote locations. Load configurations and Start/Stop the tests, grab test results
and stream audio to the command center locations. GL's Wireless VQT solution is a must for anyone looking for a fully automated,
portable, and easy-to-use wireless test solution, one that is powerful enough to fully analyze the wireless network or mobile phones and
provide complete results.
The VQuad™ along with the Dual UTA can connect to a VoIP network in several ways including through an ATA (the Dual UTA simulates the analog phone),
through a Softphone (the Dual UTA provides Balanced I/O ports), via wireless (the Dual UTA connects to any mobile phone using Bluetooth technology), and
through the customer’s phone itself (the Dual UTA can replace the handset of ANY analog, digital, or VoIP phone). The VQuad™ can also act as an end point
and directly connect to the VoIP network via SIP protocol.
The VQuad™ supports full Call Control included supplementary services such as 3-Way Calling. The VQuad also supports path confirmation, send/record voice
synchronously for VQT PESQ results and full scripting of the test. Additional measurements include Round Trip Delay, One Way Delay and a variety of
Echo testing.
Additional Information:
Main Features
- Connect directly to ATA, Softphone, Phone Handset, or Wireless via Bluetooth
- Compact and portable solution that may reside in a vehicle (truly portable)
- Mobile Phone call control (currently available for most phone manufactures/models)
- Bluetooth® compatible for both Call Control as well as Audio Send/Record
- Synchronized software for sending/recording of voice files
- The Indoor Tracking System (ITS) in VQuad™ is developed to test the VQT in remote and unreachable GPS signal locations
- The ITS information (location, timestamp) is saved in the VQT database per VQuad™ Measurement
- Automatic Round Trip Delay (RTD) and One Way Delay (OWD) measurements with complete results sent to GL VQT
- GPS Location includes stamping each VQT result with Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, and GPS Time Stamp
- GL VQT Automatic Mode allows automatic execution of the VQT algorithms (PESQ LQ/LQO/WB, PAMS, PSQM+)
- Full-featured remote capability that permits loading configurations, starting/stopping tests, and retrieving test results.
- Log all results with GPS timestamping/coordinates and plot using off-the-shelf GPS mapping software
- Obtain network signal strength levels from wireless phone
VQT Results and GPS Mapping
As a result of the Drive Testing and subsequent VQT measurements, a log is created with all relevant information, including
GPS timestamp and coordinates. This logged information can be imported to most GPS mapping software applications for an
overall graphical understanding of the results.
Hardware Configuration
A single VQuad™, using a single laptop PC, along with Dual UTA can operate up to 4 wireless mobile phones (via data cable or Bluetooth®)
simultaneously. Call Control of the wireless phones, sending/recording voice through the wireless phone (via data cable or
Bluetooth®), performing signal strength test and round-trip delay/one way delay measurements can all be controlled through the GL
VQuad™ application.
All hardware associated with the GL Wireless Drive Test is conveniently packaged in a custom enclosure that can be transported within a vehicle; just
plug into the cigarette lighter (for power), connect to the PC Laptop using the USB connections and start the test. Up to four mobile phones can be supported
simultaneously on Dual UTA, and up to two Dual UTAs can be supported in a single laptop running the GL VQuad™ software. Therefore, up to four mobile
phones are supported simultaneously. Both the GL VQuad™ and GL VQT applications can be remotely accessed via the Internet and the audio voice files may
be streamed to the remote location.
Wireless Call Control
As an option to the GL VQuad™ software, the ability to automatically control the wireless phone (via data cable or Bluetooth®)
for placing calls, answering calls, disconnecting calls, and obtaining relevant information such as network signal strength is available
using the VQuad™ Call Control option.
