While briefing the news to the media, Mr. Vijay Kulkarni, CEO of the company said, "Our T1 E1 Analysis suite of products provides comprehensive analysis and emulation capabilities for voiceband analysis and signaling protocol analysis. The additions now include a set of new protocol analyzers: MAPS™ SS7, MAPS™ SS7/ISUP Conformance Testing, MAPS-ISDN, GSM A Interface Emulation, GSM Abis Interface Emulation, TRAU Tx/Rx Testing, Network Surveyor, Frame Relay Emulation. In addition to the above new applications, a host of significant enhancements were introduced to the following products: T1 E1 Analyzer, Multiple Call Capture, Protocol Analyzers, MC-BERT and Windows Client Server".

Mr. Kulkarni added, "The addition of these new applications to our protocol analyzer portfolio and the enhancements to the T1 E1 Analyzer product suite provides greater utility and significant value addition to T1 E1 testing needs of customers".

A brief summary of the new applications in the T1 E1 Analyzer - 5.24 Release are provided below:

MAPS™ SS7

  • GL's MAPS™ SS7 is a client-server based simulation / testing tool designed to simulate Service Switching Point (SSP) and ISUP signaling per the ITU-T and ANSI specification standards
  • Generate ISUP signaling calls with pre-defined templates and profiles
  • Automatic response to incoming ISUP messages
  • Supports powerful utilities like Message Editor, Script Editor, and Profile Editor which allow new scenarios to be created or existing scenarios to be modified using ISUP messages and parameters

MAPS™ SS7/ISUP Conformance Testing

  • GL's MAPS™ SS7 Conformance Test Scripts is an application that is used for conformance and functional tests, where test objects can be accurately, reliably and easily validated for compliance with ITU-T standard Q.761-764 and Q.784.

MAPS-ISDN

  • GL's MAPS-ISDN is a client-server based simulation / testing tool designed to simulate ISDN signaling as defined by the ITU-T standards. This application can generate high volume of ISDN traffic over TDM (T1 E1) lines
  • Generate ISDN signaling calls with pre-defined templates and profiles
  • Automatic response to incoming ISDN messages
  • Supports powerful utilities like Message Editor, Script Editor, and Profile Editor which allow new scenarios to be created or existing scenarios to be modified using ISDN messages and parameters

GSM A Interface Emulation

  • GL's GSM A Interface Emulator is an advanced protocol simulation / testing tool for GSM simulation over A Interface that can simulate BSSMAP and DTAP messages and signaling specification as defined by 3GPP standards
  • Capable to generate BSSMAP and DTAP signaling calls with pre-defined templates and profiles
  • Automatic response to the incoming BSSMAP and DTAP messages
  • Supports powerful utilities like Message Editor, Script Editor, and Profile Editor which allow new scenarios to be created or existing scenarios to be modified using BSSMAP and DTAP messages and parameters

GSM Abis Interface Emulation

  • GL's GSM Abis Interface Emulator is an advanced protocol simulator/ tester for GSM simulation over Abis Interface that can simulate BTSM messages and signaling specification as defined by 3GPP standards
  • Capable to generate BTSM signaling calls with pre-defined templates and profiles
  • Automatic response to the incoming BTSM messages
  • Supports powerful utilities like Message Editor, Script Editor, and Profile Editor which allow new scenarios to be created or existing scenarios to be modified using BTSM messages and parameters

TRAU Tx/Rx Testing

  • GL's TRAU Tx/Rx Test is a client-server based application that can simulate & analyze TRAU/CCU (BTS or BSC end) on GL's T1 E1 cards. The module is capable of generating and receiving TRAU traffic on either 8kbps or 16 kbps sub-channel. The application can impair or apply delay to the TRAU stream either during transmission or prior to transmission.

Network Surveyor

  • A separate installation has been built for Network Surveyor software

Frame Relay Emulator

  • GL's Frame Relay Emulator simulates standard and Multi-Link Frame Relay (MFR) protocols. The application permits users to add and remove FR links from MFR bundle, create Virtual Channels /Aggregate Virtual Channels, and send / receive traffic over an established link with or without impairments. The various traffic options includes sequence numbers, hex string, binary data, and GL's file format *.HDL.

Significant Enhancements introduced to the following applications:

  • T1 E1 Analyzer
  • Multiple Call Capture
  • Protocol Analyzers
  • MC-BERT
  • Windows Client Server

About GL Communications Inc

Founded in 1986, GL Communications Inc. is a leading supplier of test, monitoring, and analysis equipment for TDM, Wireless, IP and VoIP networks. Unlike conventional test equipment, GL's test platforms provide visualization, capture, storage, and convenient features like portability, remotability, and scripting.

GL's TDM Analysis & Emulation line of products includes T1, E1, T3, E3, OC-3, STM-1, analog four-wire, and analog two-wire interface cards, external portable pods, and complete system solutions. Capabilities include voiceband traffic analysis and emulation across all traffic types (voice, digits, tones, fax, modem), all protocols (ISDN, SS7, GR-303, Frame Relay, HDLC, V5.X, ATM, GSM, GPRS, etc.), and with capacities up to thousands of channels.

GL's VoIP and IP products generate / analyze thousands of calls / traffic simultaneously with traffic types such as frames, packets, voice files, digits, video, tones, noise, and fax using G.711, G.729, AMR, EVRC, GSM and a range of other codecs. Additional features include visual analysis, real-time listening, and recording. The product line also includes Ethernet / IP Testing capability that simulates and checks frame transport and throughput parameters of Ethernet and IP networks, including delay, errors and other impairments.

GL's Voice Quality Testing (VQT) product line complements all of GL's products. Using ITU-standard algorithms (PAMS, PSQM, and PESQ), GL's VQT provides a widely excepted solution across the telecom industry. Voice Quality Testing across multiple networks (T1, E1, T3, E3, OC-3, VoIP, Wireless, and Landline) are all available.

GL's Wireless Products perform protocol analysis and voice quality assessment on GSM, CDMA and UMTS networks. Connections can be made to any wireless phone with automated call control, GPS mapping and real-time signal measurements.

GL's Echo Canceller testing solutions provide the broadest range of simulation and analysis, including compliance testing per G.168 and G.160 across TDM, IP, VoIP and Wireless networks. GL's wirelss VQT solutions help assessing impairments to voice quality such as poor mobile phone quality, voice compression and decompression algorithms, delay, loss and gain in speech levels, noise, acoustic and landline echo, and other distortions are easily assessed and accurately measured.

GL's Handheld data testers can test a wide variety of communications facilities and equipment including T1, fractional T1, E1, fractional E1, T3 and E3 modems, multiplexers, CSU, DSUs, T1 CSUs, DTUs, NTUs and TIUs and more.
