In designing a radio system, it is important to predict the Radio
Frequency (RF) coverage based on proposed radio system requirements to determine whether the intended
objectives can be met. GL has developed several tools for providing RF Coverage Prediction plots / maps for Cellular,
PCS and Land Mobile Radio Systems.
- Link Analysis (Uplink/downlink power budgets)
- Median Field
Strength Predictions
A sophisticated tool
that predicts RF Coverage of a radio system in a prescribed area – At each terrain point median field strength
receive signal level is calculated based on a propagation model. This tool may be used for a single or multiple radio
sites to indicate the receive signal level by displaying with different colors different ranges (e.g. > -65 dBm, -65 dBm
to -80 dBm and -80 dBm to -95 dBm).
- Most Likely Server
Plot
Based on the receive signal level
calculations for each radio site, this tool predicts the most likely transmitter site which will provide the coverage at a
particular point in a prescribed area. This tool is used for two or more radio transmitter locations. Each terrain point
for a radio transmitter is assigned a distinct color as long as the receive signal level meets or exceeds a user defined
threshold or plot zero (e.g. -95 dBm).
For RF Coverage Plotting services, please visit RF Propagation Analysis Tool page and
submit your system design parameters by filling out all the applicable fields. We will perform the analysis and the results of your data will
be emailed to you within 24 hours.
