LightSpeed1000™ Tx Rx Test
(OC-3 / STM-1 and OC-12 / STM-4)

Overview

Tx Rx Test tool in LightSpeed1000™ is an emulation and test module that transmits test packets/cells and/or analyzes the received packets/cells.

ATM Tx/Rx Test module generates test cells, which can be analyzed at the receiving end to check for data modifications and cell loss/insertion. An extraneous cell can be inserted in the generated ATM cells using error insertion feature to generate a sequence error.

POS Tx/Rx Test module provides users the option to send fixed, random, or variable lengths test packets, and insert user-defined frame header in the packets transmitted.


ATM Tx/Rx Test

This module generates ATM test cells and/or analyzes the received cells. The selected port can transmit ATM cells with user configured ATM header bytes, bandwidth, and interface type (UNI/NNI). The module generates test cells, which can be analyzed at the receiving end to check for data modifications and cell loss/insertion. An extraneous cell can be inserted in the generated ATM cells using error insertion feature to generate a sequence error

ATM Tx/Rx Test

Tx Port and Rx Port

This allows selection of Tx and Rx ports to transmit / receive the ATM traffic.

User/Network Interface

This will decide if the generated cells to be from Network side or User side. When UNI interface is selected, the ATM cells generated (or cells being analyzed) look for GFC field and 8 bits VCI field. When NNI format is selected, the ATM cells generated (or cells being analyzed) look for 12 bits VCI field and no GFC.

ATM Header Fields

This configures the GFC, VPI, VCI, PT, and CLP with the appropriate values for transmission of ATM cells.

Tx Config

This option allows users to configure the bandwidth in Packets per second, displays the configured rate in bits/second and the percent of the bandwidth utilized on the selected interface.

Statistics and Results

The module displays the statistics of the transmitted and received packets. In addition, it displays the Rx Sequence Resync count, Error count, Tx Overrun count, & Rx Underrun count. The Tx sends data consisting of incremented 64 bit numbers and Rx part checks the numbers for the expected increments. When wrong numbers are received the Seq Error Count is incremented and the expected number may be changed based on the received number.


PoS Tx/Rx Test

This application provides users the option to send the test packets with fixed, random, or variable lengths, and insert user-defined frame header in the packets transmitted. The statistics displays the transmitted and received packets, lost packets and receive sequence erred packets. The Rx sequence errors can be categorized based on Rx error stat length bucket value set.

PoS Tx/Rx Test

Tx Port and Rx Port

The interface allows users to select the Tx and Rx ports to transmit / receive the PoS traffic.

Fix/Var Packet Length

This option allows users to select the fixed, variable increment, and random type of packet for transmission/reception.

Tx Config

This option allows users to configure the bandwidth in Packets per second, displays the configured rate in bits/second and the percent of the bandwidth utilized on the selected interface.

Statistics

The module displays the statistics of the transmitted and received packets. In addition it displays the Rx Sequence Error count, Tx Overrun count, & Rx Underrun count.

Rx Error Statistic Length Buckets

PoS Tx/Rx Test categorizes the received sequence and data errors in different packet length groups called “Buckets”. Each sequence error reported will be added to the corresponding bucket, there by updating the statistics. This feature is applicable when “Var. Increment” or “Var. Random” option is selected for packet length configuration.
